by PG Bartlett While I’m rarely an early adopter, I find myself strangely and strongly drawn to the iPad. I have no idea what I’d do with it, but I’m sure I’d spend money for its care and feeding. And there lies the allure for publishers: perhaps iPad owners will pay for content, especially if it’s really cool. Which brings us to rule number one: digital publications must be animated, multimedia and interactive. But if iPad users will pay for cool content, wouldn’t the same be true for users of desktops, laptops, netbooks, notebooks, smartphones and other tablets?
