The Dynamic Publisher- Your Source for Dynamic Publishing News

Issue 4 - March 2009

Forward to a colleague

In this issue of The Dynamic Publisher, we take a look at dynamic publishing in the context of catalog production. Catalog production is one of the more complex publishing processes. It involves bringing together a variety of information – descriptions, images, pricing information, and historical content – from a variety of sources and assembling it into an optimal order and presentation to maximize purchasing by a specific target audience. As the Internet has matured and influenced consumer behavior, catalog publishers are finding that they must publish catalogs more frequently that are smaller, more targeted, and more personalized, but still have a high degree of design richness. Dynamic publishing solutions provide automation and additional capabilities that can reduce catalog production costs and complexity by streamlining the production process, and achieving faster production cycles.

In this issue, German industry consultant Jörg Oyen looks at catalog production, how it is changing and breaking new ground. This issue also profiles how Versandhaus Walz GmbH uses dynamic publishing to streamline their catalog production.

Sincerely,

Joshua Duhl, Editor The Dynamic Publisher
